Vehicle fitted with Tyron Extended Runflat System 'Standard'
system.
With the
front offside tyre 'blown' track tests were conducted to include;
high speed left and right cornering, slalom, chicane, lane
change, traction capability and emergency stop. This was followed
by 30km (19 miles) runflat at speeds up to 50kph (31mph). On
completion of the tests the tyre had not started to break up
(no damage visible to the eye). After removal and inspection
the runflat was reusable, after being serviced. |

FIRE APPLIANCE
Fully
laden (approximately 13
tons).
Test
Track: The Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh,
Gloucestershire. April 7th 1998.
Vehicle fitted with Tyron wheel safety bands.
The
front offside tyre was 'blown' at 60mph and track tests
were conducted to include high speed straight line stability,
left and right cornering, 'lane change' manoeuvres, slalom,
'roundabout' trials and emergency stop. The vehicle handled
well throughout all trials and the wheel sustained no damage.

laden (driver + 8 passengers).
Test
Track: RAF Bentwater, Suffolk.
Vehicle fitted with Tyron wheel safety bands.
The front
offside tyre was 'blown' at 60mph. The vehicle was then driven
through a varied course at speeds up to 50mph for a distance
of 4km (2.5 miles), with full control maintained throughout.
The wheel remained in perfect condition to the end of the tests. |

Vehicle fitted with Tyron wheel safety bands.
Exploring the limits of high
speed handling and runflat distances on the tight handling
course, with speeds of up to 100mph attained with the front
right tyre 'blown'. Ttrials have now been completed successfully up to speeds of
150mph at Silverstone, resulting in almost universal adoption of Tyron bands
by UK police forces on a variety of vehicles. |
